Dear Jaymee,

 

I wish every order we did was a “10″, and that every person who entrusts us was thrilled with the finished product. Unfortunately, in spite of our best efforts, I am sad to say we sometimes fall short.

 

Every project we do is extraordinarily important to the folks who have hired us to make their Special Cake, and that fact weighs heavily on me.

 

I have spent some time going over the specifics of your order to see what exactly happened. I understand that color was a big issue, and we matched the color of the image provided as closely as possible. However, photos sometimes do not represent the true and correct color.

 

The size of the cake was smaller than ordered, which was an error on our part to be sure.

 

However, a “back-up” sheet was made in the same flavor, and a discount was provided in order to assure there was plenty for your guests. A call was made to the Bakery shortly after pick up, and several immediate attempts were made to contact you and correct any other issues, but no one answered.

 

I am confident that you were truly disappointed, and for that we are truly sorry. I do hope that in spite of your dissatisfaction, the Honoree, a WWII veteran, enjoyed his event and that everyone present was lifted by the true spirit of the celebration.

Located in Sanger, CA, right outside of Fresno, your guests won’t have to travel too far for this venue.  If you have guests coming from out of town, Wonder Valley is a full service resort with beautiful rooms on site. Holland Park West

If you are looking to hold a unique reception, Holland Park West will deliver.  The ceremony area has a dazzling backdrop of rocks and waterfalls, with a walkway that goes right onto a small pond. And right behind that backdrop is a beautiful cave-like area where the reception is held.  A walkway leads your guests down into this caved area surrounded by huge rocks and boulders, where the outside world fades away. Wolf Lakes Park, Inc.

Located on the outskirts of Clovis, this massive park has everything you could ever need for your ceremony and reception.  Surrounded by a 40 acre lake, a lakefront wedding is ideal for this venue. The wood and stone pergola that the guests face adds a very warm and rustic charm to the ceremony. They also have the unique option of the groom and groomsmen arriving to the ceremony on a boat. Grab your party hats and blow horns! Its our favorite New Years Eve tradition – watching the ball drop. Here at Eddie’s Bakery Cafe we believe it is even more fun to take the ball home with you.  Here is a behind the scenes look at how we made that possible.

Building the Ball

First, we sandwiched vanilla cake with chocolate cake in the middle to make a 3 sheet cake. We then cut off the edges of the cake to give it the shape of a ball.

We covered the ball in cream cheese frosting and gave it a smooth finish.

Bringing the Ball to Life

We added a ribbon topper and gel lines to give the ball texture.

We airbrushed bright colors all over the cake and added sprinkles to match.

We added finishing touches with ribbon and New Years Eve decals.

5…4…3…2…1…

The fairest in the land. 

The JW Marriott Desert Ridge Spa & Resort decided to make an entire gingerbread town with homes surrounding a gigantic castle.  You can spice up your decorating by adding little touches like a live choo-choo train or mock roads for gingerbread cars.
 
 

Looks like a field goal to me!

This person took the gingerbread house into a whole other spectrum – football!  By layering gingerbread cakes and adding little gummy bears as spectators, this football stadium has come to life!
 
 

London Calling

Displayed at the Grosvenor House Hotel, this little plot of London is complete with Big Ben and the London Eye. If you don’t want to stick to a traditional house this season, maybe think of your favorite part of the city you live in.
 
 

Merry Christmas from the White House

Holiday Cookie Swap

A holiday cookie swap is a fun tradition that many participate in.  How a cookie swap works is your guests bring anywhere from 2-6 dozen of the same type of cookie, depending on how many guests are coming.  The cookies are laid out for everyone to pick and choose which cookies they want to take home.  It has to be the simplest and most entertaining holiday party there is. Here are a few quick tips for a successful cookie swap.

• Tip 1: The more the merrier!  The more people you can get to your cookie swap means the more cookies your swap will have.  But make sure guests bring enough cookies for everyone.
• Tip 2: Ask all of your guests what type of cookie they are going to bring to avoid duplications.
• Tip 3: Ask your guests to bring their own baggies or cookie tins to take their cookies home in.

If your guests bring cookies from Eddie’s Bakery Cafe, we wont tell. :)

Cookie Decorating Party

If you want to have this party with friends, ask them to bring blank, already baked cookies – preferably cookies that are in all different shapes. You provide the decorations and voila! Let the cookie decorating begin! This is also a wonderful activity to do with your children as well.

Treats for Santa

You can make the cookie decorating with your children even more fun by telling them the cookies are especially for Santa. Ask them to decorate the cookies the way they think Santa would love most and watch their imaginations run wild. After the cookie decorating is over, leave the cookies, notes from your kids to Santa, reindeer snacks, and hot apple cider or hot chocolate next to the tree for Santa to enjoy.
